Volunteer

Volunteers contribute greatly to the success of our students and schools. We appreciate volunteers who give their valuable time and knowledge to help our students grow and learn.

You can download and print the volunteer forms from this page, or pick up a printed copy at the school you would like to volunteer.

Parent/Guardian Volunteers

If you are a parent or guardian of a student, you are considered a type one volunteer. Please return a completed Type One Volunteer form (versión en Español) to the school office. The school principal will need to sign the form. You are not required to undergo a background check unless warranted based on a criminal disclosure response. You will need to be accompanied by school staff when working with students other than your own. Please check in at the office and follow the school’s volunteer procedures.

Other Volunteers

Anyone who is not a parent or guardian, or volunteering at a school with an organization, is considered a type two volunteer. These type of volunteers are typically community members who regularly visit a school to support the school or students. Please return a completed Type Two Volunteer Form (versión en Español) to the school office.

Our human resources department will perform a Washington State Patrol WATCH background check. Upon receipt of an acceptable WATCH check, you will be notified and may begin volunteer. Please return the volunteer form at least one week prior to volunteering to allow enough time for the background check to process. You will need to be accompanied by school staff when working with students. Please check in at the office and follow the school’s volunteer procedures.

Self-Help Projects

From time to time, citizens, parents, students and/or staff wish to volunteer their time or contribute equipment to district schools and programs. These projects can be clean-up parties, painting, replacing carpet or any facilities improvements that are not currently scheduled for completion by Facilities Services. Please visit our Self-Help Projects webpage for more information.

School Guests

School guests are individuals who visit a school to perform tasks such as:

  • Attend events or activities during the school day
  • Lead an event such as an assembly
  • Take photographs for student identification cards or for photo day
  • Participate in events (i.e. evaluating senior projects).
  • College/career/military recruiters

Guests are not required to undergo a background check but they are required to check in at the front office and comply with school visitor procedures, including being accompanied by staff and may not be unsupervised with children other than their own.

Volunteer Coaches

If you volunteer as an athletic coach, you are considered a type four volunteer. Please return a completed Type Four Volunteer Form or Type Four Volunteer Renewal Form to the school's athletic director. Volunteer coaches are not permitted to have unsupervised contact with students.
