We want to highlight important information about distance learning, grading and calls from teachers.
Distance Learning
We have created a Distance Learning webpage that has information about what distance learning is and isn’t, what type of lessons you can expect, how to stay connected and more.
Grading
Grades K-5
Teachers are providing feedback to students weekly. Year-end report cards will have teacher comments but not the typical grades of 1-4. Students will move on to the next grade, unless by mutual agreement between parents/guardians and teachers following HPS retention policy 2421.
Grades 6-12
Teachers are sharing course-specific distance learning plans, with information about grades and credit. Middle school students will receive a Pass (P) or Incomplete (I) at the end of the semester. High school students will receive an A, B or C to earn credit, or an I (no credit). Incomplete indicates the student was not on track to earn credit as of March 17 and has not engaged in learning since school buildings closed.
Calls from Teacher
Teachers are calling families using an app that may block Caller ID or use a number that does not appear as a school district number. If you don’t answer the call, you can respond by calling back, leaving a voicemail or sending a text.
