Family Update for October 30

Graduation Rate

Our graduation rate is up for the seventh consecutive year. The Class of 2020 graduated at 83.8%. This comes during an unprecedented year, when seniors spent the final three months of high school learning remotely. Highline seniors rose to the challenge, stayed connected to school, and completed their coursework under difficult circumstances.

Black/African American students graduated at the highest rate ever in Highline, at 88.7%, an increase of 12 percentage points. Native American students also increased their graduation rate by five percentage points.

We are so proud of our students!

Non-school Days

This is a reminder that Friday, November 6 and Wednesday, November 11, there will be no Distance Learning. November 6 is a teacher work day and November 11 is Veterans Day. You can find all holidays and non-school days on our district calendar on our website.

Meal Service

There will be no daily meal service on Friday, November 6 and November 11. Meals for no-school days will be included in the Daily Meal service on the day before (November 5 and 10, respectively).

On Thursday, November 5 the daily meal will also include weekend food.

Testing Sites

The Department of Health provides multiple free COVID-19 testing sites--regardless of immigration or insurance status. They are open to anyone who cannot access a COVID-19 test through their regular healthcare provider. Check out all the sites on the Department of Health website. New locations have been added in Federal Way, Renton and Tukwila.

Daylight Saving Time will happen on November 1. Remember to set your clock back one hour before bed on October 31.
