Highline Virtual Academy
Opening Fall 2021 to students in 6th-12th grade
Highline Virtual Academy is a new online learning school opening in September 2021. The school will accept a limited number of students in 6th through 12th grade.
The virtual academy is a flexible learning model that provides opportunities for self-paced learning. Instruction is centered around rigorous learning and high expectations implementing a guaranteed and viable curriculum, including academic and social emotional skills.
Our community is focused on building relationships with students and families with face-to-face experiences to engage students in social emotional support. We are committed to delivering on our Highline Promise to know all students by name, strength and need. This includes academic and social emotional skills.
If you are interested in applying to Highline Virtual Academy for the 2021-22 school year, please fill out and submit this form. We will reach out to you with additional information on space availability later this spring.
Students who thrive in independent and online learning will benefit from Highline Virtual Academy.
Student learning will provide flexible and a self-paced model. To do this, students will engage in online learning across all middle and high school content areas with rigorous and state-aligned standards.
Student work will be graded by trained teaching staff, and families will receive progress reports throughout the academic year. Students who fulfill graduate requirements will earn a diploma from Highline Virtual Academy.
The school will be housed at the Olympic Interim Site in Des Moines.
