Timeline Set for Move to Olympic Interim Site
In March, Pacific Middle School teachers and staff got a close-up look at materials selected for the new school building. Architects shared interior renderings and samples of carpet, flooring, laminates and wall graphics. Exterior materials included aluminum, masonry, metal panels, frosted glass and doors. Staff are set to move out in June, making way for demolition and the start of construction.
Staff asked questions and explored the materials up close. Architects explained how the design incorporates feedback from the staff design review committee, using natural colors and textures to create a vibrant, welcoming environment inspired by the Pacific Northwest. Large-scale wall graphics at the entrance of each level of the three-story classroom wing will help students and visitors identify their location with color and imagery.
Over the summer, Tyee High School will move out of the Olympic Interim Site to their new school building in SeaTac. This will make room for Pacific to move into the Olympic Site, so the existing Pacific Middle School can be demolished.
Students will attend school at the interim site for two years during demolition and construction of the new building. Demolition is scheduled to begin this summer, with the new Pacific Middle School expected to open in September 2027.
