Non-Discrimination Policies

The information shared below was provided to staff via our annual Back to School Policy Update, and should be familiar to all staff as we enter a new year. Please review this information. 

Nondiscrimination—Policy & Procedure 3210 & 5010

Policy & Procedure 3210 covers nondiscrimination for students; Policy & Procedure 5010 covers nondiscrimination for staff. Your responsibilities: Each of us has an obligation to be alert to instances where students or staff are being discriminated against, and to be aware of our obligations under the law. Highline Public Schools does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, creed, color, national origin, age, honorably-discharged veteran or military status, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression and identity, marital status, the presence of any sensory, mental or physical disability, or the use of a trained dog guide or service animal by a person with a disability.

If you receive a complaint about a student being discriminated against please review the steps in Policy and Procedure 3210; if you receive a complaint about a staff member being discriminated against please review the steps in Policy and Procedure 5010.
