Weigh in on High School Schedule Changes

TEC students at the school's 2016 graduation ceremony. High school course schedules will change in September 2018 to help students meet new state graduation requirements. Come to a meeting to learn about schedule options and give your feedback.

Preparing Students for New Graduation Requirements
The new Career- and College-Ready Graduation Requirements (also known as Core 24) increase the number of credits needed to graduate to a minimum of 24 credits.

We have been studying and gathering input on course schedules that give students the opportunity to earn more credits than they have now.

A planning team of teachers, counselors, and administrators has reviewed feedback from families, research, and experiences of other districts and has recommended a trimester schedule consisting of five-period days.

Other alternatives are:
  • 4x8 block schedule (four class periods a day, classes meet every other day)
  • 7-period day
  • 6-period day with before and/or after school course options

Core 24 Family Meetings
Join us for a family meeting to:
  • Learn about the pros, cons, and costs of four options being considered
  • Learn about the trimester schedule and reasons was recommended by the committee
  • Review the timeline for planning, collaboration, and preparing for the change
  • See sample class schedules
The meetings are being held in all service areas but the information will be the same at each session. Please feel free to attend the one that best meets your schedule.
